New Roundabout Public Art Display at City Hall

The City of Prineville invites the community to view our newest sculpture, “War Paint,” on display in Prineville’s City Plaza beginning today!

The sculpture, made by local artist Greg Congleton, will be displayed downtown during the winter and will then be moved to the roundabout at State Highway 126 and Tom McCall Road.

War Paint is made of rusty ‘found objects’ and genuine antiques, including spoked wheels, farrier nippers, Pulaski’s, rifles, and a 911 plaque. Congleton’s sculpture honors the famous rodeo bronc with ties to the Crooked River Roundup named War Paint and the rich western heritage of cowboys and horses in Crook County.

In 2018, Prineville City Council initiated the Tom McCall Roundabout Feature Committee. The Committee, comprised of community and business members and city and county employees, hosted several workshops and issued a survey asking community members for input on the roundabout feature.

We invite you to see the sculpture up close and share your photos with us!
