It is coming!!! Crook County On The Move has been working hard on a special surprise just for you.
Did you know that May is National Bike Month? Established in 1956, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to giving biking a try. Biking is such a fun way to Keep Moving, and we are super excited to reveal this surprise to you. It will be released on Facebook in May, but we are just so excited, we couldn't wait any longer! So, you get the sneak peek! Our newest map, created in partnership with the great team at Crook County GIS, promotes "Biking Around Town" with easy to moderate routes starting and ending at our local bike shop, Good Bike Co. LLC!
You have loved our walking map, so we are confident you will love these adventures as well. This new map is available for download on the group’s website at https://crookcountyonthemove.org/bike-around-town/ and will be available on our Facebook page on May 1st.
Before you head out on the routes, be sure to review bike safety guidelines. Safety is an important part of your biking adventure, so we included several bike safety resources on our webpage, including a short video for drivers and bikers on how to safely share the road. Knowing how hard the last year has been, we also wanted to add more fun into the kickoff of summer with fun contests available in May for you and your family. For adults, we have a ‘new Bike Around Town route’ contest and bike safety contests for children. The kids will need to complete a questionnaire about bike safety (which can be found on our flyers, the internet, and talking with our local bike experts) and then submit their answers for a prize drawing. These activities are designed for use with school or home learning. One more thing…be sure to check the fit of your bike helmets before heading out – we have included tips on the perfectly fitted helmet too.
Enjoy Bike Month while exploring these routes! Be Safe. Have Fun. Keep Moving.
